CHED extends CPU’s autonomous status for two years

The Commission on Higher Education (CHED) has extended the autonomous status of Central Philippine University for two years. The validity of the autonomous period will be effective from June 1, 2021 until May 31, 2023.

CHED released the list of Higher Education Institutions (HEIs) with extended autonomous and deregulated status on April 30, 2021.

There are 71 HEIs granted with autonomous status and 16 with deregulated status.

Aside from CPU, three other HEIs in Western Visayas will maintain their autonomous status for two years: John B. Lacson Colleges Foundation- Bacolod, John B. Lacson Foundation Maritime University, and University of St. La Salle.

Central Philippine University was first granted with Autonomous Status by CHED in 2001.
